Everyone who applies to a healthcare institution has the right to:
- Right to Receive Care
Benefit fairly from the preventive and curative health services needed to lead a healthy life, regardless of religion, language, race or gender;
- Right to Information
Receive information about the healthcare institution, the available health services and how to use them, and see and obtain documents about themselves and their illnesses;
- Right to Consent, Refuse and Stop Treatment
Accept, refuse or ask to stop a proposed treatment after being adequately informed;
- Right to Choose and Change
Choose and change their healthcare institution and benefit from the services provided there, and learn the identities, roles and titles of the doctors and other healthcare professionals who will provide or are providing their care, and choose or change them;
- Right to Privacy
Receive all healthcare in an environment that respects confidentiality, and request that rules on physical and informational privacy are applied with maximum confidentiality;
- Right to Benefit from Medical Advances
Benefit from advances in diagnosis and treatment, and be protected from pain and distress as far as possible at every stage of their illness;
- Right to Request Prioritisation and to Have Their Time Respected
Have the waiting time for care defined and kept reasonable, have their basic needs met during this time, and be referred to an institution where they can receive care if care cannot be provided;
- Right to Be Treated with Dignity
Receive healthcare with a friendly, courteous and compassionate approach, in a clean and modern environment;
- Right to Practise Their Religion
Practise their religious obligations within the means of the institution and the measures taken by its management;
- Right to Visitors and a Companion
Receive visitors and request a companion in accordance with the procedures and principles set by the institution;
- Right to Safety and Quality Standards
Receive high-quality, safe healthcare and be protected from risks and medical errors in healthcare services;
- Right to Complain and Seek Compensation
Make a complaint if their rights are violated during healthcare, and receive compensation if they suffer physical or psychological harm.
These rights apply to every patient.
