Forehead Lift – Brow Lift
Ageing, stress, genetics, eating habits and gravity can cause deep forehead wrinkles, drooping eyebrows and frown lines between the brows. This can make people look tired, sad or angry.
Forehead and brow lifts are cosmetic surgical procedures performed to rejuvenate the upper part of the face, smooth forehead lines and wrinkles between the brows, and lift eyebrows that have dropped with age.
How Is the Operation Performed?
The operation can be performed using 2 different techniques:
1. Open surgery
In an open forehead lift, an incision is made in the scalp, the forehead tissue is released and the underlying muscles are treated. Excess skin is then removed to tighten the area.
2. Endoscopic methods
This technique is performed through several small incisions in the scalp. Lifting and muscle treatment are carried out entirely from the inside.
The operation takes around 2–3 hours under general anaesthesia. Drains are placed in the forehead area and removed the following day.
What should I pay attention to after surgery?
Although there may be some pain during the first few days, it is relieved with painkillers. The patient is usually discharged after one night in hospital. Swelling may appear around the forehead and eyes, which generally subsides after about 3–5 days. To reduce swelling after surgery, a bandage is used, the head is kept elevated and cold compresses are applied. The stitches are removed after about 10 days.
