Why Pregnancy School?
Maternal and child health is one of the key factors that determine public health. To raise healthy individuals for the future, a child’s health needs to be protected and supported while still in the womb. This protection and support should begin in pregnancy and continue through birth, the postnatal period and throughout life. Health professionals should inform and support parents who are starting a family. Our aims are:
- To help parents learn about the antenatal, birth and postnatal periods,
- To enable them to follow normal and abnormal developments during pregnancy,
- To help them recognise the signs of labour and decide on the appropriate method of birth,
- To correct misconceptions about vaginal birth with accurate information,
- To teach pain management skills for labour,
- To help them understand the physical characteristics of newborns, first feeding, first bath and check-ups, and adapt to caring for their baby,
- To build a healthy society through informed parents and healthy individuals.

Who can attend?
- All expectant mothers and fathers are welcome.
- Other family members who will support the expectant mother during pregnancy and after birth can also attend.
- Mothers who have already given birth and are breastfeeding can join our “Newborn Care and Breastfeeding Programme”, which covers the topics relevant to them.
How can I join? Is it free of charge?
Our pregnancy follow-up coordinators and antenatal educator provide dedicated support to expectant mothers: organising your appointments throughout pregnancy, accompanying you one-to-one, and advising you on all the services our hospital offers during birth.
